I actually call it the paint stips… but I definitely don’t see it as the kitchen sink.
WAIT!
I think I already owe you a video… on…. on… ok I totally forgot what I owe you a video on, but now I’m going to owe you a video on the Wordpress kitchen sink.
So whatever you call it… the kitchen sink (aka… the paint strip) is the button on the fight, farthest right, on the WYSIWYG editor. Let’s just put it this way… it looks like three paint stripes.
What It Does:
It opens up another bunch of buttons that is rediculously important to your blog. These are the buttons that are a much know about for you.
- Format Drop Down – this lets you tag text in the various H1, H2, H3, etc… Here’s how you should use it. Subheads: whenever you write a subhead in a blog post you need to tag it as an H3 tag. Why? because it shows it’s importance to your reader and to the search engines.
- Paste from Word – this is probably one of the most important buttons. Most people like to write their posts in Word first. You get to see your writing better and you get to see what’s speleed wrong. BUT… if you paste your text from Word into this buttons pop up window… then it looks good! And not like crap.
- Color Text - This is just to highlight importance for your visitor. They will appreciate it… because people like to skim, not read. When you color text (H3 text for example) then you will snag the eye of skimmer.
So Pain The House or Do The Dishes…
Bottom line, you need to open up the kitchen sink… or… grab the paint stipes. Use it because it will make your posts look much better for readers and much better from search engines. It’s no magic bullet… but it helps.
I hope that helps.
AND NOW FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!
I’m married… hahahaha… NOT… but I am going to make some kick ass Wordpress videos and give them away for free.
Why would I do this?
Because I want to build your blog for you or help you and do some blog consulting. In other words… I want your business.
If you ever need help then I hope you call me. And these will kick ass… because I know what it’s like to be sold something that sucks ass. It’s not fun.
Cool?
- Dan out!
